Two sets of footsteps resonate down the corridor leading to the room. Muffled voices come through the door before the jangling of keys and the click of the lock. The dark door opens and Gaven steps through, nodding to the one on the other side of the door quickly, then turns, looking around the darkened room. Deep blue eyes settle on the glowing orbs across the room as the door closes and the lock sounds again.
Malakai watched as the door opened and the young dark man entered the stone walls of Malakai's prison. He stared with the soft glowing eyes the color of Witch's Flames, From the dark corner of the room. He did not make a sound, Nor did he part his lips to speak, but kept his eyes trailing over the features, The lights out in the room and the perfect dark cloaking him in pitch. He watched and his eyes held a ferocity and an emotionlessness to them that was purely animalistic. His eyes did not close as he watched with that extremely intense other worldliness that not only suggested he wasn't human but that stated simply that he had never been. After a moment he closed those peridot hues and rose, Less of a blink and more of experiencing the feel of his eyes closing, Then they opened once more and he stayed still, Not the stillness of the old ones, but as though he were mimicking it.
Gaven knew that ferocity fairly well, his eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness of the room, barely able to make out the man's silhouette. His thick Spanish accent punctuated his words and slurred them in places. "My name is Gaven. I was asked to feed you." He took a few steps closer, seemingly unafraid of the young vampire.
Malakai watched in echoing silence, Those eyes were vibrant and yet they were like a dog or a cat's. It was not hard to discern from his blank stare and less human gaze that he did not process what was going on around him the same as others. But deep beneath the veneer he was alone, Strangely woeful and so alone. As he moved forward towards what little light there was his eyes were swollen at the edges and his lips looked bruised, He parted his lips and a deep surprisingly malevolent voice rolled forth with a deep resounding bass tone,"Malakai." He watched with lace rimmed green eyes that revealed who he was all to easily.
Gaven narrowed his eyes then drew closer, his head tilting to the side a bit as his eyes travel over Malakai's features. He stood a foot away from him, his arms hung loosely at his sides. "How long has it been since you fed last?" He met those glowing eyes evenly, he had a rough basic knowledge about this one, but hardly anything was really known.
Malakai watched him as he was watched, But his gaze never lingered in one place for long, However he did not flinch away from that strong eyed gaze as he was dissected with those eyes. He parted his petal lips once more and spoke in that strange deepness that was dark,"Five deaths." He stared silently with unblinking dilated pupils and held his arms wrapped extremely tight around himself, Tight with vampiric strength enough to crack his own ribs if he held any tighter. He watched and slowly drew his lower lip into his mouth revealing plain white teeth absent of fangs.
Gaven's hands clenched into fists, his jaw tightening as his muscles worked. "Damn..." Was all he said before he reached into his pocket, pulling out a small pocket knife. Using his fingernails he pried the blade free, then turned deep blue eyes back up to him. "Five nights is a long time. Neck or wrist?"
Malakai stared at those deep blue orbs as he kept his arms wrapped tight, His eyes flickered slowly along the line of the man's neck then trailed down to the wrist, before returning to his eyes. He watched for a moment then spoke slowly in that deep foreboding voice,"I..do not know" He stared almost blankly, He slowly took a breath and stilled, Not letting it out.
Gaven nodded slowly and reached up behind his neck, unfastening the necklace and curling it up, slipping it into his back pocket. "Neck it is then." He pressed the blade tip against the skin above the Carotid artery, then quickly pressed into it with a soft hiss between clenched teeth. Rich red blood welled up and flowed, pumped directly from his heart and guaranteeing the most oxygen content. He quickly closed the knife and slipped that back into his front pocket, then tipped his head to the side, watching him carefully. "Go on then. Feed." His hands hung loosely at his sides.
Malakai stepped forward slowly, diligently. His eyes trailing softly, despite the harshness of those eyes. He leaned forward letting his arms curl around the man's waist almost timidly he leaned down and licked the line of blood up the man's skin stopping just short of the wound, He leaned back and stared as the blood began to fall down the flesh that was there, He leaned again forth and licked the line of blood up like a tender cat lapping milk from his master's flesh, He continued to do so, never getting to the wound, Never coaxing more blood than it was willing to give despite what he wished to do, He let his body match the line of Gaven's, Touching as much of his own as he could against the man's. As if he were feeding from touching the man even more so than sipping the wound. Malakai's eyes were closed tight. He did not watch the blood flow or the wound emit its liquid flame. He slowly let his fingers curl to the edge of Gaven's shirt bottom, Stopping just short of letting his fingers touch the warmth of the man's skin.
Gaven slowly wrapped his arms around Malakai's shoulders, leaning down, closer against him. His chin tipped down as he watched him feed, his brows furrowing. "You can put your mouth on it." The Spanish accent purred with a soft command. His hand moved up the man's back, weaving his fingers between the dreadlocks until he cradled the back of his head against his palm. His hand pushed gently on his head, guiding it up and closer to the wound.
Malakai felt the hand slip up into his hair and the words whisper into his ear. He did not speak or attempt to as his mouth rose to the wound and he covered it with his lips. Letting his tongue caress gently over the long cut. Tasting the copper accents of the fresh blood spilling into his mouth and the seductive torn flesh that caressed his lips back, He whimpered the slightest as his tasting became far more diligent. He let his tongue enter deeper into the wound, Coaxing forth his flame, and sealing the kiss of the feeding. He felt the sweet tender blood flowing down his throat and he swallowed dazed after a while, Letting himself lean in closer and his cold hands slipping under the cotton of the shirt, Caressing the tender sides of the Tall man. Trailing his nails along the softest part of the man's muscles. He made keening noises as he fed from the wound taking his fill, and letting it last as best he could.
Gaven gave a satisfied grunt as lips locked around the wound thought his hand did not move from the back of Malakai's head but pressed more firmly as the probing tongue slid into his flesh, another hiss escaping through his teeth as his eyes closed. A shiver shook his body at the cold hands and nails drawn against his back. He took a step forward, guiding the vampire against the wall, his free hand moving up to brace himself against it with a sigh. His heart sped up at the closeness, urging the blood easier and faster into Malakai's waiting mouth. The first wave of dizziness caught him and he dipped his head down, pressing his crown against the stone wall. He waited counting each swallow that he felt against the palm of his hand, the long fingers that curled gently around the vampire's neck.
Malakai Swallowed slowly drawing, Tasting, Bringing the blood deeper into the succulence of his waiting mouth, He felt the wall lean forward and his back pressed against it and it made him wrap his arms tighter around the man's waist, Letting his fingers trail along the tender skin, then up towards his arms, Gripping lightly the underside of his upper arm, and letting his nails draw the lightest of lines along the skin. He nestled the wound and had stopped coaxing the blood. He just let his tongue trace shapes over the edges of the wound and touch lightly along the perforations, Making the edges of Numbed pain awaken just the slightest, He drew back from the wound haven taken less then was needed but enough to satisfy himself. He stared at the barest trickle of blood welling to the top and let his lips brush across it as though kissing it better. HE did not speak, He did not move his mouth, Just kept those soft blood stained lips against the wound so that the blood that made its way to the epidermis could press against him and coagulate. Helping the wound to close.
Gaven kept his eyes closed as he breathed against Malakai's shoulder through parted lips, his breath hitching at the gentle tracing of his tongue against his neck and the edges of the wound. He didn't move, letting the dizziness pass over and through him, accepting it as he always did. His heart gradually slowed as the blood coagulated and stopped flowing against the press of tender lips. His body pressed tight against Malakai's showed that he had enjoyed himself, the soft sigh that escaped his lips against his shoulder ran thick with his accent. "Madre Dios..." He swallowed and chuckled, a deep rumbling. "Gracias.... Thank you."
Malakai watched the light pulse as it pounded and slowed against the skin. He closed his eyes fo a moment and stilled against the man, His eyes opening and his lace eyelashes fluttering against that pulse. He drew back his lips stained with the life water of the man. He whispered against the man's cheek, Mimicking him but in that deep resoundingly profound voice,"Thank you". He closed his eyes once more before opening them and looking at those dark deep Blues, His eyes were feral, and they glowed with Witch's Fire, Green and flowing with the intensity of the blood that had entered his veins, His heart beat. Slowly, loud and frightening to the rhythm of his breath. Malakai watched with those smoldering eyes that seemed to see past the facial expressions and the skin of the man, down into what he was at his deepest moments. They watched his soul and it was almost as though he wore his own soul not in his body but open. On his very skin.
Gaven lifted his head slightly away from the wall, meeting those feral eyes with the deepness of his own, his face gone slack and relaxed, an almost drunken expression on his face. The sight of his blood on his lips didn't bother him, in fact it excited him, and he enjoyed that too. Their faces were a mere inch apart and his eyes locked onto the bloodstained lips, unable to tear them away for several seconds before he met those fierce glowing eyes again.
Malakai watched him and leaned forward, pressing his forehead against Gaven's he leaned forward but did not let his lips meet the others, Just linger there so close. His eyes were visceral and seemed to stare endlessly, Their was the barest pull to them, but it was so far beneath a pull, Like a yearning in those eyes. The arms of the vampire tightened as he held Gaven close and held onto him as though he were the last thing in the world that could keep him here, and he held onto him as though he were dear. Malakai inclined his head the slightest as those fierce eyes trailed over the features and he watched.
Gaven started to pull his hand away, the ring on his index finger catching on the dreadlocks and pulling sharply before he twisted his wrist tugging at it more gently as he tried to remove his ring from the bound locks.
Malakai breathed, sharp, an intake as his eyes rolled back in his head. They fluttered as he grew hard against Gaven, But he went still, completely so, as he let his hair be pulled in the same direction that the ring went, Baring his neck and collar bone to the man as he waited in what would have passed easily for utter bliss.
Gaven Brows furrowed as he watched the expressions change on the young vampire's face. Finally removing his ring from his hair, he wrapped his fingers once more around it, in it and through it, pulling it evenly and firmly. His lips hovered over the stained ones as his voice purred deeply. "You like .. pain?"
Malakai groaned as he felt the stillness and he ring tugged loose, and his hair straining against those fingers, He opened his eyes as he sank against the wall letting his head be maneuvered in whatever way he decided to move him. He parted his lips as he spoke his words in warm breath against those clean dark lips,"Yes...I do" He took in a breath and stayed still and silent. His eyes tracing circles around the man's pupils.
Gaven's features hardened the corner of one side of his mouth quirking up slightly. His question he expected to be unprepared for. "Tell me. What would you do If I left right now?" His fingers tugged almost gently on the locks, tipping his head back as far as it would go.
Malakai moaned softly as his follicles strained against the roots of his hair. He let out the slightest whimper as f to egg the man on and caution him at the same, He slowly spoke one word choked ragged from breath that he did not need and whimpers that strained to escape,"Cry...”
Gaven pulled his head back slowly as he unwrapped his arms and fingers from the vampire. "Don't. Not one tear. You are not to cry, or make a sound, nor hurt yourself in any way when I go. Do you understand me?" The command was easily heard in his tone as he straightened his back, reaching back and gently but firmly trying to pry the hands that so tightly held him.
Malakai went still, His eyes plied to the man and his voice. He stared and did not speak for a moment, His hands and fingers however came off as easily as a child's. Pliant and far less resilient than the strength that was in them,"Yes, Master" His eyes closed and he trembled as he tried his hardest to stay still. To not be alone, to not be filled with sorrow. His mind traveled back to the days behind him and the time spent clawing at the stones and wailing with terror that he would be alone forever. He was being punished, He had been bad. Malakai went still not quite the frozen statue of the older ones, but like he was mimicking them as best he could. His lip trembled and he stayed shuddering.
Gaven took a step backwards, and then another before nodding and turning away, heading for the door. He knocked on it twice and spoke to the one on the other side. The lock did not click however there was an answer, muffled by the door itself and the stone surrounding it. He turned back, glancing to Malakai, checking on him.
Malakai dropped down to the ground the moment the man stepped away from him, His eyes closed tight as he trembled in fear. He did not cry. He made no noise besides the sharp sound of hi knees hitting the stones and the grinding as he tried to concentrate on not crying His lips trembled and he tucked his arms around himself, With nigh to rib cracking strength, just short there of. Cautious never to disobey. Cautious to not be punished again. He was alone. In his mind, Malakai was drowning in his solitude.
Gaven The door unlocked several minutes later and a plate was passed through before it was closed again, this time left unlocked. He turned from the door and moved back next to the vampire, his back sliding down the wall as he sat, leaning against it. "Not bad. It bothers you to be alone that much?" He picked up one of the cookies from the plate and took a bite, eying the shuddering form next to him.
Malakai Did not respond. He was shivering as if he were freezing to death, and watching him perhaps he was. He stared at the inside of his eyelids. His neck straining as he rocked back and fort in terror. He was alone, again. He was without, Without warmth. Without love. He started to keen like a wounded animal, but the sound was choked off before it even began. His eyes strained tight against their lids. His breath coming in gasps between teeth clenched shut and nearly crumbling from vampiric strength. He seemed to hear nothing. To see nothing. It was like watching an addict go through withdrawals, Or a creature caught in a trap. Malakai was oblivious to the man sitting beside him and the outside world beyond that.
Gaven watched and listened to him for a moment before his hand rose up, behind his head, then snapped forward, striking him firmly. "Pay attention." He had not answered him, and that brief touch was all he would get.
Malakai fell forward from the light hit, But it was like smacking a rock. He had gone from his psyche the moment he had been left. He turned his gaze to the man as if suddenly wondering if it were the same day. If it were the same hour. He stared for a moment at him and inclined his feral animal gaze to the side. Watching like he was less than humane. Like he were some misbegotten being from another planet. Like he were watching the man through a fog that he couldn't get past. He did not speak only listened.
Gaven frowned, taking another bite and chewing it slowly and swallowing before speaking again. "I hate repeating myself. If I have to keep doing it I will leave. I asked if it bothers you so much to be alone." He finished off the cookie, chewing it while he waited for an answer.
Malakai listened and closed his eyes, Before opening them after a moment, He parted his lips still blood stained from their interaction,"I hate it." He stated each word slowly as if they were delicate and were to be handled with care. He stared wondering if those words were enough and hoping they were.
Gaven nodded, his hand reaching up again this time to rest lightly on his shoulder. His other hand moved up and ran his fingers through his hair, combing it back from his face. "I can see that." His accent purred. "I would rather you speak what bothers you than let it go unnoticed. That can lead to dangerous things." His fingers curled tightly in the fabric of Malakai's shirt, pulling him closer and against him. "I also would like you to tell me what it is you enjoy." The hand moved from his hair to set the plate next to him, away from the vampire and pick up another cookie, taking a bite and chewing it.
Malakai's brow furrowed but he seemed to lessen his pain at the feel of the touch, His eyes going distant, Going hazy as if he had been given a sedative,"I like this" He closed his eyes and rubbed his face against the man's shoulder, like a pleased animal scenting his owners hand. He parted his lips licking them and enjoying the taste,"I am Alone. The rest died." His voice breaks and it surprisingly gets deeper with the sound turning into a chest rumbling break. He shuddered and tried to hide his face in the man's shoulder, in the wall.
Gaven let his arm drape across the man's shoulders until he turned his face toward the wall. He placed the cookie in his mouth and held it there as he turned, reaching up with both hands to cup Malakai's face, turning it to face his own. He spoke around the cookie, unwilling to take his hands away just yet. "What do you mean... others?"
Malakai shivered as the hands cupped his jawline. His eyes tried to focus and he stared into the man's deep blues with his own intense peridot eyes, and he parted his lips once more,"Mistress and Father" He said the words and his voice was deep and in it there was regret. he closed his eyes and did not open them at first. As if he were trying not to remember. Trying not to think about the only people he had ever loved that were all dead. Ashes and gone forever.
Gaven frowned, noticing how he hardly spoke when he did. Hearing the words his frown deepened. He wanted to make this man better, make him feel better. Deep blue eyes moved up to the hair, he couldn't run his fingers through it as he normally would have with out hurting him. One hand moved away to remove the cookie from his mouth, placing it back on the plate before sliding in among the dreds, tugging at them silently a moment, watching his face carefully. "What did they do to comfort you? What... helps?" He wanted to understand this man, if he understood him, he could break him, and remake him to be stronger.
Malakai stared not comprehending, He watched and felt the hand pulling his hair. Tightening the draw on his scalp. The shock to his nerves and the fresh blood in his veins making him feel as though he belonged. This man Loved him,"I....Don't understand." He spoke in a gasping voice, Breathless despite that he did not need the oxygen. He peered through half drawn lashes at the man and his pupils where dilated as if he were high.
Gaven kept tugging at the hair, it was obvious that he enjoyed it, they both did though Gaven hid it better. "What makes you feel... good? When you are sad. Is it only pain... or something else?" He started to lean forward, his face getting closer to Malakai's then stopped several inches away.
Malakai watched him and his lips couldn't form words at first. He was still against him and he couldn't breath at first, His lips almost curled into what was a smile. But it was as though he weren't sure how to do it right. He stared at Gaven for moments before speaking," I like skin" He closed his eyes and it was a curtain closing over his soul, but only to open once more and reveal all in the classic enigma of what he was,"Touching, Tasting, Holding." Each word was very punctuated as if they were sentences withing themselves, But each one articulated with extreme precision. Malakai was so alone, but Skin seemed to change things to him.
Gaven listened, continuing the tugging at the dreads one by one. "Huh." It wasn't a question, more of a grunt with definition. "So you are like shifter? Just need to be touched to be happy?" His hand moved down from his face, tracing lightly along the skin of his neck and collarbone, stopping at the fabric and tracing along the edges.
Malakai shivered and he seemed to be at ease. Better, was the only word that described it. He was better being touched, He was feral alone, and when without he was terrified. Malakai couldn't help but let himself drop into the feeling of fingers tracing him. Of skin touching skin. He was not alone right now. And despite the fact that it could all be taken away, he couldn't help but love the touch relax into it. He let the breath he was holding ease out through his teeth and his lips half parted, his eyes half closed he nodded his head, not wanting it to stop.
Gaven frowned, his head tipping to the side and he simply stopped. Stopped pulling at the hair, stopped touching the skin on Malakai's chest, his fingers hovering just above it. "You did not answer me." There was a thread of warning in the tone of those spoken words, so thick with his accent that they could be drowned in it.
Malakai stopped. He stared, He watched then inclined his head the slightest and spoke,"Yes?" He did not apologize. Animals did not ask for forgiveness, He stared and he seemed like he was watching past the skin of the man to something deeper, He blinked and his head came vertical once more. But there was no Sorrow, Or pain in his eyes, Just watching. Just staring.
Gaven spoke again, the warning still in his voice as he began to pull his hand from the hair slowly, showing that he meant business. "Did you hear what I asked?"
Malakai tilted his head forward and their was a resilience there, But something yearning for more. He was searching for the answer that would please the master most, The hand pulling away,"Yes, I heard" He spoke slowly, Intense each word coming forth but there was a certain amount of fear in the tremble of his voice. A certain amount of parlayance.
Gaven stopped pulling his hand away and let it hover near Malakai's cheek. "So answer the questions." He shifted, sliding his calves under him and kneeling in front of him, deep brown meeting the swirling glow that was still the brightest thing in this dreary room.
Malakai closed his eyes and let the thoughts roll off his tongue, His eyes flashing open to punctuate his sentence,"I just do not want to be alone. Not anymore" He spoke each word with precision, but they were carelessly said. Without pause for thought or worry, He was trying to answer the questions as he could but he was not thinking as clearly and the sun was approaching its break.
Gaven's hand touched the side of his face gently. "How are you used to being punished?"
Malakai shuddered for a moment then closed his eyes, Tears trying to well up in his eyes, He closed his eyes tighter,"Alone.....They left me alone" He trembled and closed his lips tight into a line, biting down on them.
Gaven nodded slowly getting the picture of what and who this man was. How he was used to being handled would have a big influence over how he trained... no retrained him. His face dipped down, closer tot he thin lines that had been made of the previously full lips, his hand moving back to the hair and tugging on it sharply, then grabbing a chunk of it and forcing his head back, his face up to meet his. "I will stay with you until dawn. Then I will go. I will try to be back here in time for you to wake so you are not alone. But you must be willing to listen to me, pay attention to everything I say and answer me right away. Do not make me ask more than once for anything." His head had grown closer as he had spoken, now he pulled it back to meet Malakai's eyes. "Now, are you ready to pay attention and learn from me?"
Malakai watched in silence, His lips parted a the pin enervated him. His eyes burst open and he watched in silent shock, Before opening his mouth and speaking in that deep rumbling bass that held so little choice and s much earning,"I am" He answered the question immediately and his eyes flickered back and forth between those dark eyes. His breathing came ragged before it stopped and his heartbeat did as well. He stared in utter silence and the soft scent of Camphor and Lavender rose from im as a bead of sweat ran down the line of his neck. Fear, determination, and what was blind faith and Devotion bubbled forth from him like the sweetest perfume.
Gaven gave a small sharp tug at his hair, his voice growing the slightest softer, but still holding that commanding tone to it. "You are not to cry, or hurt yourself, or do anything to damage yourself if you are alone." He thought about that a moment, then a half smile formed, changing his features. "I might have something that can help you with that." He released his hair and pulled back from him quickly, reaching to his wrist and unbuckling the leather strap of his watch, then holding it up so Malakai could see. "You can read these yes?"
Malakai stared with that great yearning and that intensity that was in everything he did. He was not a person, and his every moment was spent the same way it had been for the past forty five years pleasing, and belonging to someone. He watched the man for the signs of his face and his demeanor. Pleasure or Displeasure. He stilled at the feel of the pain shivering it's way down his spine. Like a electric iron rolling past his hair to the signals that said love, and Belonging. The suddenness of the lack of touch and pin was almost frightening, He closed his arms around his knees and stared from the mound of his muscles a Gaven warily, almost distant,"Yes" He answered as soon as the question was asked, hardly giving it a thought.
Gaven held it out to him offering it. "Take it. It is yours now. Sundown is at... eight I think. I will be here no later than nine." He took a deep breath glancing at the watch. Once it was taken he stood and held his hand out for Malakai to take. "It is almost dawn. You have a bed upstairs yes?"
Malakai watched him taking the watch and holding it in his and but never looking at it. He did not seem to respond to the statement but responded immediately to the question,"Yes" His deep rumbling voice escaped rolling and malevolently dark. He reached out and took the man's hand Immediately relishing the feel of their skin meeting and without putting any weight into the man he stood, by just stretching his muscles at the right time. His hand caressed the coarse palms of Gaven's hand a he watched him carrying the watch in his other hand.
Gaven turned and pulled him along up the stairs, speaking as he led him up toward the bed. "What time is it now?"
Malakai watched him as he followed behind closely his whisper escaped and he stated the time,"5;30" He said the words without glancing anywhere but at the man's head. He let himself be led and stayed standing at the bed breathing in the feel of Gaven's hand in his.
Gaven motioned to the bed and nodded "Go on. Get in." He took the watch from Malakai's hand and laid it on the nightstand, then turned watching him carefully.
Malakai watched the man as he slowly stripped the clothing from his body revealing perfectly toned muscles and tempered body tones according to a certain age. He was made very carefully. He slowly slipped between the covers and lay there watching the master to see what he wanted, and how he would react. His eyes traveling over the contours of the man's features, as he stared intent and discerning.
Gaven watched as he undressed, his deep brown eyes examining every inch he saw. He had expected to see signs of abuse, scarring and such and was mildly surprised and pleased to find none that he could see. Though the scars that this man bore were deeper than the flesh itself and would take longer to get rid of. As he slipped between the covers, Gaven pulled his shirt up and over his head, kicking off his short boots, then turning and facing him, meeting that gaze for a moment then slipping easily between the sheets with him. He gently guided him to roll over, curling his hardened body against his back, wrapping his arms tightly around him. His chin rested firmly and dug in a bit against his shoulder as he waited silently for the dawn to take the life from Malakai.
Malakai felt the line of his body being held by so much warmth and flesh. It was better so much better. His eyes grew weary and unfocused as he felt the flesh touching him everywhere. It was like being at peace when he had not in so long. His eyes closed but his hand curled along what he had of Gaven's arm. Trailing circles along the hairs. He felt himself grow hard with the influx of the blood in his veins and his feelings of peace. He went still not sure if Gaven would be pleased with that or not, his body when statuette. But before he could enjoy more of the feel of the skin against his skin, the life against his 'life' the dawn broke through the night and stole him away, his eyes shined one last flicker before the glow turned away and his body went lip. His last breath slipping out between clamped teeth but the borrowed warmth was still there in his veins and he still held himself in Gaven's arms like he was the only shield left.
Gaven's jaw tightened as the hairs on his arms were teased. He wanted nothing more than to give in to his body's reaction toward the young vampire, but two things held him back. This was a man broken and tossed aside, his wires were so jumbled and confused in his head that he did not understand or seem to see things the same way others would. He was not thinking of the masochism as the problem, but more the constant need for touching, the need to be hurt as a sign of affection. He would not act upon his own needs and desires until Malakai was ready, until he felt he was ready. The second was that there was not enough time. On the tail end of that thought he felt the vampire's body go limp, heard the last exhalation of breath and knew a “dead” body when he felt and saw it. Slowly and gently he pulled away, rolling Malakai onto his back and pulling his arms up onto his chest. His hand reached over and fumbled at the side table for the watch, taking hold of it and carefully wrapping it around Malakai's limp wrist, fastening the buckle and leather straps securely around it.
Silently he removed himself from the bed and pulled the covers up, almost lovingly tucking the vampire in. Stooping down he picked up his shirt, setting it on the bed before grabbing his boots and sitting smoothly in the edge as if he could disturb the sleep of the one resting in it and slipping them on. As he stood he pulled the shirt back over his head and walked toward the stairs, glancing back for a moment at Malakai, his brows furrowing slightly as he pondered just how or if he could be fixed. Without another look around he turned and headed down the rest of the way, toward the door. Once through he had the one that had been guarding it lock it behind him. Suddenly remembering the cookies he had left behind then shrugging and leaving them be. He could get them later when he returned. His strides were even and sure of themselves as he made his way back to his room, still pondering how he could help the young vampire that now rested in his deathly sleep.
