"What!? That's it?! Just slap the case in a Missing Person folder and forget it?! What the hell kind of BULLSHIT is THAT!?" Dirk's voice rose in volume, the rough side of a growl also starting to develop. His eyes had already gone to a much paler shade of winter blue as he stood there yelling into the phone.
"I am sincerely sorry, Monsieur Sullivan, but young adults disappear frequently in Europe. We have done what we could." The french detective was clearly bored with the discussion.
"You mean young American adults, don't you!? You motherfuckers don't give a rats ass about them do you?!" He could feel the wolf in him rising, snarling as his anger elevated. The stress of his grip on the small cellphone was causing alarming sounds of impending breakage.
"Again, Monsieur....I am very sorry. If you would give us your address we can send your sisters belong...," but the line went dead as the phone imploded in Dirk's hand.
He threw the remains across the room and began pacing in a quick tight circle. The living room was too small, he had to get out, suddenly feeling very trapped. Dirk had not been this angry in a very long time, angry and frustrated. He couldn't lose control right now though. Doing so would be no good for Lisa ... or himself. His hands moved to his head, gripping it tight as he sat down. Dirk rocked there on the edge of the couch, growling low and hard in his throat, as he fought the wolf down. He had to think straight, had to figure out what he was going to do.
After a long while, Dirk drew a slow breath and fell backward on the couch, hands falling limp onto his lap. For now, his human self was in control. Now to think. It was obvious that he was going to go to Paris. He wasn't going to just accept what the Paris authorities had told him. Standing quickly, he headed upstairs and pulled his battered leather saddlebags out of the closet. They normally rode on the back of his cycle, but he couldn't take the bike to Paris. Stuffing clothes and other odds and ends into the bag, he thought about what he needed to do prior to leaving.
He already had a passport from jobs he'd done before. Money wasn't an issue. Weapons would have to be purchased in Europe once he arrived. Whether or not he'd contact the local Pack was another story. Sitting heavily on the bed, he reached into his pocket to call Dodge, then realized that he'd destroyed the phone. "Gonna have to buy another one before I leave."
Then he snatched up his favorite leather jacket, keys, wallet and all the various other little things that went into pockets. Saddlebags over his shoulder, he left his apartment, locked it up and hopped on his bike. It was a short ride, but he wanted to leave the bike with Dodge. Once at the man's house, he quickly moved up to the door, knocked loudly on it, then let himself in with the key calling out....
"Dodge, Babe...!? You home!?" He really really hoped he was home. Dirk needed to tell him what was going on and he desperately needed to see a friendly face before he left.

Dodge had been upstairs relaxing in the warmth of the bathtub. It relieved his back a great deal, not as much as the drugs could do, But it worked. And Dodge was trying to keep from taking the drugs since it upset and worried Dirk. As he was reclined back, he sang along terribly to the song that was blasting into his ears from the ipod. It had been a rough start to the day, and this bit of personal time was just what the doctor ordered. Well.. had there been a doctor, but Dodge's list of people to trust was VERY short, and doctors.. were NOT on that list. He popped the ear buds out so he could pour water over his head. No more had he done this when he heard Dirk's voice call out downstairs. He cursed to himself as he reached for the towel to wipe his face, then snatched the phone up off the floor to look at the time, puzzled by the unannounced from Dirk.Dodge shouted through the open door in the directions of the stairs.."Hey babe... Upstairs.. let me dry off and I will be right down." He climbed his way to his feet, and stepped out of the tub, rubbing himself dry from head to toe as he grabbed a pair of sweats off the counter and slipped them on. Dodge pulled the plug to let the tub drain and headed back downstairs, grumbling to himself on the way as he checked his phone to be sure Dirk hadn't called to say he was coming over.Perhaps he had called and Dodge had just missed the call.. It wasn't like Dirk to just *show up* like that, and this always worried Dodge a little when he did that. As Dodge reached the bottom of the steps he held his phone out, pointing at Dirk in a joking threat.. " You didn't call first Mister... I could have had some cute guy in here ya know..." Dodge gave him a chuckle as he stepped over throwing an arm around Dirk's waist, leaning in to kiss the mans neck. " How are ya babe.... whats up?"

At first Dirk gave Dodge a confused look about not calling first and that he might have had a cute guy over. After all, his mental gears were turning on a completely different level than they usually were. But when Dodge's arm wrapped around him and familiar lips pressed to his neck, the moment of confusion was broken and he understood the humor.
Wrapping his own arms around Dodge's shoulders, Dirk buried his face in wet hair and drew in the man's scent. A scent that he wanted to take with him, wrap around him. Lifting his head, he gave Dodge a slightly sheepish look, "I broke my phone." Then he pulled away, reluctantly, because he needed to get his thoughts in order.
"I crushed it in my hand while I was talking to a goddamn Paris detective." He knew that that bit of news was going to really bring up a lot of questions, so he blundered on first as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "I have a younger sister. Her name is Lisa. I don't talk about her to keep her safe from my life."
He drew a breath and sat heavily on the edge of the couch, "But now....she's disappeared. I helped her save up money to go to Paris to some stupid art school." He looked up at Dodge with a slightly uncharacteristic lost look, "I haven't heard from her in a little over a week and the Paris authorities have written it off."
Dirk shook his head still looking at Dodge, holding onto his lovers face with his own winter blue eyes like it was his lifeline, "I just can't accept that. She's all the family I have left ... other than you. I have to go to Paris." His brows drew together as his head tilted slightly, "Shouldn't I go to Paris? Isn't that the right thing?"

Dodge started to give Dirk a scolding look when he mentioned breaking another phone. Before he could give him any grief about it he felt the puzzled expression draw cross his face as Dirk started bombarding him with information.. Paris..... detectives.... sister???
Dodge followed Dirk as he moved to the couch, but remained standing.. looking down at him.. The worry was very evident in his pale blue eyes. All Dodge could do was look down at him as he explained more about this sister, and how she had apparently gone missing. It was a lot of info to get all at once considering this was the first he had ever even heard of her. It troubled Dodge a little that there was yet more things Dirk had been hiding.
Once it was registering in his mind, Dodge dropped to his knees on the floor in front of Dirk. He shook away the urge to start questioning Dirk about the secret and instead focused on Dirks worried face .. " Well a little over a week isn't really that long.. But you more then anyone would know if something is wrong I guess.."
Then the next words that came out stung a bit at the mention of leaving the country. Dodge pulled away from Dirk and plopped down on the couch next to him. " Well Do I WANT you to go??? of course I don't! But this is your sister after all. she is your flesh and blood family.. I am just.. Well I am just me."
Dodge sat silently for a moment then spoke again.. " I don't suppose you would want me to head to Paris with you? " Of course he wouldn't want Dodge to tag along, he would simply get in the way and be a distraction for the things Dirk may need to do. " Yeah.. I think you need to go... Its important babe.. and if the so called *law* over there wont do nothing, Its up to you.. Just be... Safe."

His heart broke a little as he listened to Dodge. It was something that he'd never felt before ... ever. The worry for his sister was shoved to the back of his brain for the moment as he twisted on the couch to face Dodge and took the man's hands in his own. His fingers squeezed Dodge's as he stared at them, brows moving through an entire mental conversation of his own before he actually spoke quietly.
"I don't want to have to go, Dodge. I don't want this to be happening." He looked up then, a hint of genuine fear in the depths of his eyes, "If it were you...I'd do the same thing. You and Lisa...are all that I care about." Dirk looked down again at their hands, "Except...I've worked to keep her separate from my life...to protect her from the things I've done. But, I want you IN my life and still I need to protect you from the same things."
He lifted Dodge's hands, working his lovers fingers until they opened and then pressed those open palms to his face. He covered them with his own as he drew in Dodge's smell, speaking again, "I've fucked up so bad, all my life ... but you, you have given me reason to try and fly a little straight. Not even Lisa could do that. So that makes you someone that's very important to me."
Dirk lowered their hands once more between them. The beast half of himself within was pacing, whimpering and howling, unsure of what to do, helpless before human emotions. The beast wouldn't go after his sister because the animal mind just didn't think like that about others that weren't in the immediate vicinity, family was what was near, not far away. The wolf wanted to stay right there and keep its lover safe, lay with him, live with him ... be whole. It was the human half that complicated the beast mind.
"I would gladly take you with me, Dodge...baby...I would. But..I'm going to be very bad. You're safer here than with me." The very thought of what he might do in Paris turned his eyes to a dangerous shade of violent that Dodge had never seen before. For the first time would he glimpse a shade of the killer that Dirk truly was. "If something happens to me ... I want you to be...at home, with friends, safe."

Dodge felt a terrible wrench in his stomach, knowing that Dirk must go for his sister, It was the right thing to do after all. But the worry was still there, the worry that if Dirk left, Dodge could possibly never see him again.
Dodge simply sat there in silence listening to Dirk speak about the situation. He carefully thought of what he could say,and how he could say it to not further upset Dirk. He hated to see his lover so bothered, that seemed to be the one thing Dodge had been good at was keeping Dirk happy, at least till this conversation.
"I know you would come for me as well. That's something I would have never had faith in anyone else to do until you." Dodge let his tightly clenched fists be eased open and pressed to the mans face. The words spoken brought a warm smile to Dodge's face briefly.. "We all have things in our past we have messed up or regret Hun.. I am great full that you have given me the chance, and tried to change things for me. I know it hasn't been easy. That just makes letting you go all that much harder."
Dodge just stared into the loving blue eyes as Dirk sat silent, listening to him. He could see the frustration in his eyes and knew this was every bit as hard of a decision for Dirk as it was for Dodge. He continued to watch Dirk once he began to speak again, watching his eyes for any sign, Dirk's eyes seemed to be his only tell.. at least the only one Dodge could notice. He believed the mans words of assurance that it would be safer to remain here and wouldn't argue it any further. He knew Dirk could "handle" things in ways he probably wouldn't want to know about.
As he gazed into his lovers eyes he watched with wonder as they began to change color again. Dodge had saw this many times. but they went beyond there normal shade and into a shade that seemed almost pure violence. This frightened Dodge and he quickly pulled his hands free and shoved them to his sides. He turned away from Dirk, not wanting to see that any longer. " Your right Dirk. I would be safer here. and with me safe here.. you can do what you need to there. Now go. Your sister needs you. Just please stay in contact. Being here without you will only be bearable if I know your all right."
