Chris took a deep breath shook his now damp hair letting his face drip dry it was bad enough that he suspected the stain on the shirt was old blood they had been to there a while and he wanted to change but his feet bare padded softly toward the club as he got to the window he looked in to see if anyone was around
Serenity Terasaur turned slightly, snuggling her face against Jared’s naked chest, refusing to open her crystallized blue eyes just yet. It would take her a bit but eventually she would, yawning softly and glancing around the living room. They really needed to get Jared to heal faster so that they could use her comfy day bed again, the couch was not the most exciting and comfortable place to sleep with one’s mate. Especially since they were within view of everyone which meant clothes had to be worn always. Damn it all. Ser pushed lightly at her mate’s shoulder, smiling softly as he muttered at her and rolled over slightly. She’d shake her head with a soft laugh as she slipped off of the couch, heading upstairs to freshen up in the bathroom then change into a jean skirt, pink shirt and comfy sky blue cardigan. Yeah her clothing tastes had been a bit wonky since she got back…she hadn’t wanted to show off any skin on her upper half. The feline would head to the bathroom once more, throwing her platinum locks up into a messy bun atop her head, then glancing at her newly pierced bottom lip, happy that the swelling had gone down a bit. With a final nod Ser would toss on a pair of white sneakers then head out the front door silently…she needed some air, and Jared was far too exhausted from their tryst in the woods last night to even stir as the door opened and closed. She’d begin walking towards town in the quiet night, her beast prancing around her in circles. She was very restless as it had already been almost two months since she had last shifted…how was she going to handle eight more months?
Nikki Robbins let her gaze wander around. As she turned to face the front doors, she spotted a van outside turning the corner. She really did not pay it any mind. Nikki, of course, did not feel tired at all so she continued to dance as she listened to the conversations of her friends in the bar.
Serenity Terasaur made it to the corner of town across from Fang Bangers, stopping as the cross walk light demanded that all pedestrians not cross the street. Crystallized orbs blinked as she searched first the left side of the road then the right, it was silent as can be and not a vehicle in sight. Naturally she began to cross the street anyways, heedless of the warning light. The feline’s head shot up as a white van turned the corner just as she had taken three measly steps into the street. A soft frustrated growl escaping her as she stepped back quickly, arms crossing over her chest, foot tapping against the concrete stones beneath her as she stared at the van, watching as the man inside fumbled with a map while navigating the streets. She figured he’d turn towards the residential area but instead he went right around the circle once again. Did he realize he was driving in a circle around town? Idiot. She rolled her eyes and continued to cross the street finally, standing in front of the hospital and glancing up for a minute, face frowning. The HR for the hospital had called this afternoon, asking Serenity for her twin…when Ser had told them that she was out of town for the time being they had asked when she would be back. Ser wondered the exact same thing. With a soft sigh the feline shook her head and turned to stare at the bar, and then in the direction of her work. Where should she go? Choices Choices.
Dan drove while Kyle nervously watched the rear-view mirror to make sure no one had noticed anything off with them. They dumped the trash, after carefully going through it and picking out the one that was Rhage, and separating her from the actual garbage. The cleaners had enough foresight to snag her file, and it sat beside the red bio-bag in the back of the van as they drove into Wood Bourne. “Don’t wanna get into no trouble, Kyle,” Dan said, shaking his head as Kyle listed off places they could drop her. “We gotta get the women and haul ass out of town before the Doc finds out about this. We don’t need the Doc and this chit’s family after us too.” They knew that they needed to drop the woman somewhere where she would be found. “Dan, the bar,” Kyle pointed. “Oh fuck no! Are you stupid?” he shouted, still driving around the town. They'd seen the woman stepping out nearly right in front of them, but paid her no attention. They hadn't hit her. So they drove, and argued.
Nikki Robbins slowly came to a spinning stop in her dancing. She had closed her eyes as she let go of everything else around her. Nikki looked back to the others seeing them still talking. She began to maneuver her way off the dance floor. Nikki made a casual glance to the door seeing the white van again. Maybe they were lost. She slowly headed out the front door to see what was going on out there.
Serenity Terasaur frowned somewhat, she didn’t want to go into work…besides…she hadn’t grabbed the keys anyways. So Ser decided to head to the bar, some chocolate and heavy cream sounded delicious to her. Upon walking across the street she noticed Nikki outside, smiling and nodding to the other woman, her hand laid protectively upon the small poof below her navel as she pushed her way into the bar, head tilted as her beast prowled around, lioness stalking the bar’s perimeter to see who all was within, pretty smile upon her face, a face devoid of make-up. Her attire and lack of make-up would be enough to raise the eyebrows of those that knew her well enough…Ser was changing.
The pair argued for a time as they drove around downtown Wood Bourne. Finally, they agreed. They would dump her in front of the hospital… but they weren’t stopping the van… If any of the bar’s more sober inhabitants were paying attention to the van that circled the Four Corners several times, they would wonder… The van slowed, just outside the doors of where the old hospital used to sit… in viewing distance of the bar… “Fuck, Dan, someone’s watchin,” he cursed when he saw the woman stepping out of the bar, “get the hell outta here!” Kyle grumbled, watching out the darkened windows of the van. Dan was quick to listen to his partner in crime, and the van quickly sped up again, turning towards the gas station. No way were they gonna be seen by anyone paying very close attention to them. Damnit all. Why couldn’t people just mind their own fuckin business, Kyle thought, saying as much to Dan. “Cause people’s nosy by nature, moron,” he muttered, still driving on.
Nikki Robbins tilted her head as they van had gone around yet another time but slowed near where the hospital had been. She was about to turn and head back inside when the van suddenly sped back up and moved quickly around the corner. That made her stop. Had they done something she couldn't see? Nikki looked back to the bar then to the street. She moved away from the bar to get a better look as she headed across the street. She looked around seeing nothing laying around her here. Nikki looked around for the van wondering why they were acting that way. She decided to take a walk around the four corners to check the other sides just in case.
Kyle gave the nosy bitch’s description to Dan… they’d both need to keep a sharp eye out for the woman, for anyone. “Thank God we took the tags off,” Dan grumbled. They still had their uniforms on, pale blue scrubs that had the letters “EVS” clearly printed on them. Pulling into the gas station, Dan sighed and cursed, “She didn’t go back into the bar?” he repeated, when Kyle told him that the woman had stopped at their actions. Great. Fucking great. “Okay. Normal. We can pull this shit off Kyle,” he said, turning the ignition off. “Goin into the store. Gonna ask for directions to the NYC Hospital. We’re late for our job there.” Yeah. That was their cover. Easy to believe, true enough. No one would sense a lie. Technically, they did have a job in the morning at the hospital in the city. They had cleaned at the NYC hospital every Tuesday and Thursday for the last twenty years… but no one else had to know that. Love me some fudgy truth, Dan thought with a charming grin as he walked in and began asking the cashier for directions.
Nikki Robbins took a slow walk around the four corners seeing nothing. She ducked into the alleyways and looked amongst the darkness for anything unusual. Nikki sighed as she decided that maybe she was gaining a suspicious nature. That was not like her. So, she headed out of the darkened alleys and headed back towards the doors of Fang Bangers. "I wonder what happened while I was being overly suspicious."
Kyle was cursing when Dan opened the door, “Got us some useless information,” he said, one scruffy brow lifting at Kyle’s cursing. He immediately realized the reason when he heard a quiet sound and the rustle of the only trash bag that was in the vehicle, “Kyle, tell me that was you touchin the fuckin bag,” he prayed. “Uh… nope… we gotta drop her. Fast.” Dan nodded, and in no time they pulled out of the convenience store’s parking lot. They drove around the residential section, slowly, as if looking for a suitable spot… “Is that a…” Dan started, “It is!” Kyle said, “A Church!” they said in unison. No one was around, not a single soul… So they jumped the curb and backed the van right up to the church doors. The back hinge opened, the door hiding Kyle from view. A bright red garbage bag seemed to roll from the depths of the inconspicuous white van, along with a brown file folder that opened and its papers flapped in the evening wind. With a squeal of tires and the scent of burning rubber, the van sped off towards Wood Bourne’s city limits… They’d done all they could, and hoped it would be enough.
Meanwhile, inside the building, Gerald sat on one of the pews. His old work clothes were still a little dingy from mowing and weed-eating around the grounds, but the old man hardly cared. He’d wiped his feet nice an well before walking on inside, and now he simply rested, taking in everything he’d done inside earlier. He’d dusted, polished, swept… The church shone beautifully. Father Hikaru would be pleased when he returned, Gerald vowed. The church keeper was just getting up when he heard tires squealing outside. Walking out, he frowned at the red trash bag. He had his hand on the cell phone in his pocket that Father Hikaru had provided him, debating on whether or not to call the Father… when the bag moved, and moaned. Gerald quickly punched in the speed dial Hikaru had set up for his own number and the old man drew the sign of the cross over himself while he listened to the phone ringing on the other end.
Hikaru Mekanic's smile widened and he opened his mouth to respond snapping it shut as he felt his phone vibrating in his back pocket and sighed, pulling it out. Glancing at the caller ID he frowned. Gerald hardly called him unless he couldn't find, or accidentally broke something. He looked apologetically up to Chris. "This won't take long." He answered the phone and lifted it to his ear, beginning to agree again with Aydryan that the things were getting in the way of normal "human" contact. "Gerald... what is it?"
Chris arched his brow seeing Hikaru's puzzled concern putting his hands in his back pocket remaining quiet.. he recognized the keepers name they had played a couple of card games and Gerald had always made Chris feel welcome and made sure he had eaten and all he hope everything was alright .. biting absently on his lower lip watching for clues in Hikarus face even as he moved to give him space to talk not wanting to be rude
Gerald frowned into the phone and leaned back against the doors of the church as if Lucifer himself was in the bag, “Well, Father Hikaru, I think,” he paused and listened to the more consistent sound of moaning coming from the bag, “that someone just dropped a body at our front steps… but it started to move. I didn’t want to touch it…” The bio-bag rustled again as movement inside the trash bag altered its position slightly. An audible gulp from the aging Gerald could be heard, “Uh, you might want to send someone?”
Hikaru Mekanic frowned harder and nodded, relaying everything quickly to Aydryan below. "Alright Gerald.. no.. don't touch it. Although... get some blankets.. just in case. I will be right there." He hung up the phone and looked at Chris. "It seems our talk must be put on hold again... for that I am sorry." He was already starting to walk past him but paused reaching out and resting his hand on his shoulder lightly. "I'm glad you are back though. If you want... " He shook his head not knowing what he was going to be walking in on. "You should go downstairs and get something to drink... relax.. maybe dance." He moved past him and through the hallways already pushing his phone into his pocket. Once he rounded the bottom of the stairs he smiled at Ser, though he had already known she was there and back. "Serenity.. it's good that you are back." <<Beloved... I have to go and see...>> He was already out the doors and heading down the street.
Gerald nodded rapidly, “Uhhuh yeah, sure thing Father,” he grasped at the out quickly, not even noticing that the phone had already been disconnected. He tucked the phone back into his coveralls and went back into the church to gather blankets together.
Christopher nodded sincerely at Hikaru he had heard the panic in Geralds voice even if he didn't hear the words.. he almost offered to go as well it was his home after all and Gerald was a friend .. without thinking he started to follow coming down the stairs as Hikaru seems to disappear out the door Chris sees one of the twins she looked like she had seen trouble and she was across the bar with Ayd nodding he began to head to the door despite Hikaru telling him to stay he wanted to prove he was useful and Gerald was his friend and he might be needed maybe possible ..
Hikaru Mekanic was hurrying his way down the streets, cutting through the darkened alley <<Need? No... I want it though. But...>> If his suspicions were true... He didn't need to deal with two lions that could be out of control. He was already at the diner when the wind shifted and he smelled it, moving as fast as he could, becoming a blur to any that might see him. Arriving on grass he suddenly stopped, staring at the red biohazard bag.
Rhage Terasaur was floating towards consciousness, and God it hurt. She heard a soft mewing from a distance, not recognizing it as sound coming from her own mouth. She shivered, and heard a loud rustling noise that drew another soft moan from her.
Christopher had left the bar quickly wanting to avoid exciting Serenity .. he kept his eyes ahead and nearly ran into a man coming up the street .. muttering a quick apology he headed toward the church his feet caring him very quickly
Aydryan Underwood: Hikaru's voice in head was a distraction, but he kept his reaction to it to himself, his face remaining a bland mask. He moved over to the a beanbag and flopped down into it, "I am not your babysitter, Serenity. Besides.....I don't believe Jared wishes to owe me anything."
Hikaru Mekanic heard her heartbeat, and one good breath of her scent had him knowing exactly who it was. << It's her. >> he quickly moved up beside her and crouched, his breathing stopped while his nose wrinkled. Very gently he reached out then stopped. If she was as bad as she smelled... no matter what he did it was going to hurt. He pulled open the bag carefully and gently pulled it from the blood soaked mass of hair. the sight he had clinched it and he was pulling his phone from his pocket and calling 911 right off. << My lord ami intime...>> He didn't have words to describe even just the partial flesh that he had seen.
Aydryan Underwood lifted his hands and covered his face lightly as he listened inwardly. A headache was beginning to pulse inside his skull that he was now trying to rub away with his fingertips. <<Serenity will not want to be delayed.>> He pushed himself up and out of the beanbag. Aydryan looked at Nikki for a moment, then to Serenity. "Nikki would you be so kind as to keep Serenity company. I have to leave and take care of some things. Perhaps, Serenity, you will allow Nikki to accompany you home when you're ready." He said nothing about Hikaru or where he was on purpose. Motioning to Jeanette, he held out his hand, "My shirt, please." As he pulled it on he moved toward the door, "Please...enjoy the evening." To Hikaru...<<I'm heading to the Pride house to alert Jared.>>
Chris had made it to the park near the church when he stopped dead in his tracks the sight he saw was beyond anything he could imagine .. even his darkest nightmares we not this bad.. his hand covered his mouth as a wave of nausea hit him .. he had not eaten properly in days .. and was suddenly glad of it he saw HIkaru peel the bag back more and he saw the bloody patch of what he thought was hair.. moving forward though his knees protested each step.. he could see Gerald just inside the door the man looked paler then Chris or Hikaru's he heard Hikarus phone make a tone as he dial the hospital
Rhage Terasaur whimpered when the bag was moved. Even that slight brush of movement hurt. Blood covered her, from head to toe, though her face and the upper portion of her neck appeared intact. The scent grabbed her, its coppery warmth distracting until she smelled the saline and drug mixture… IV bag burst… in her semi-conscious haze she assumed that was what happened. The transfusion was still going, though slowly since there was no gravity to aid it’s progression, as was the nutrient supplement. Rhage wouldn’t be altogether aware of that though. As the wind tugged the bag opened further and brushed against her she moaned again and fine tremors began to work their way through her body.
Serenity Terasaur made the mistake of lifting her right hand to her mouth, stifling a soft yawn, her left was out of the hem of her shirt, wrapped around the to-go cup, her missing ring finger evident. She shook her head at the Master’s silence, spinning around in her spot to glance at the newbie male that had just arrived in the bar. Hmmm. He looked vaguely familiar but she couldn’t place it. Perhaps it was the hair, it was probably a style she’d seen in the city a few dozen times, the rock star wannabes always tended to dress alike. The feline pressed her energy out lightly, testing to see what the male was…human, vampire, shifter, or other? She wondered idly as she glanced back to Nikki, “Odd….hmm.” Perhaps her mind was mixed up from that night, now she could swear that the van was black. She heard Aydryan’s parting words and frowned lightly, she didn’t need someone to walk home with her. To prove her point the feline headed for the bar doors, “Thanks for the thought Aydryan, but I’m exhausted and am heading home, no need to bother Nikki….” She smiled to the other woman before nodding to the new male and pushing out of the doors and into the night, cup held securely as if her life depended on the chocolate and cream drink as she meandered her way home.
Hikaru Mekanic made the usual noises one makes when trying to soothe the sick or injured, though he knew that this would most likely not help her at all. He glanced up seeing Chris, his on face set in grim lines. When he looked back down at her he was quickly explaining the situation to the operator that had answered, along with letting them know what he was, who he was, in advance, so that this time, hopefully, he wouldn't be held at gunpoint. He hung up on them, knowing that the sirens would soon be heard down the street and lowered his shields enough to lull Rhage into a peaceful slumber, curled up with her twin, quickly pulling a couch and room from her mind and recognizing it as the one from the pride house. he pulled her into that dream, away from the pain and suffering as Chris tiptoed by to check on Gerald. He heard the sirens then and continued to wrap Rhage into a dream so thick and deep it would hopefully take her several hours to come out of it.
Serenity Terasaur took her time heading home, to spite Aydryan and his comments earlier? Probably. Though she did keep a wary, watchful eye on her surroundings, lioness stalking around in circles metaphysically, testing the air. She stopped along shops here and there, admiring outfits and accessories as Ser was wont to do before she finally pulled herself away, heading in the direction of the residential area, and to Jared…it amused her that she had only been gone about an hour and she missed and worried him so much. The blaring of a siren made the feline hiss and nearly jump right out of her skin as she hopped to the other side of the sidewalk, watching as the ambulance drove towards her neighborhood. She frowned as she picked up the pace, head tilted while taking a drink of her chocolate and cream, idly wondering of one of the older inhabitants of the neighborhood had fallen or had a heart attack…those things were fairly common for their area it seemed.
Rhage Terasaur would likely have muttered at herself if she realized the pitiful, agonizing sounds she heard distantly were her as consciousness began to drag her into its own version of hell. And then she was dreaming gain… She and Ser had just watched the Disney movie “The Lion King” again, laughing and joking all the way through it, and were curled up on the couch, having fallen asleep. Back in the real here-and-now, her body continued to shiver in the cool evening.
Hikaru Mekanic held her as tightly as he could in that dream, trying to lay a foundation for her to dim her pain levels… though when he heard the second tiny heartbeat he was a bit stunned, his worry mounting for her. He would have pulled her beast earlier if he hadn't known... but he had and hated that she had to suffer through this. He didn't take his eyes off her as the police and ambulance rolled up, making quite a racket and quickly had her off to the hospital. There was nothing more he could do for her now.. though he did inform them of who to contact and of her pregnancy before they had driven off. Chris had already taken Gerald home to his wife, and if Hikaru knew either of them at all they would talk the swan into sleeping at their place tonight. He stood at the front of the steps and watched the lights and sirens dimming, then turned and headed into the church, intending to go to the basements, and tunnels home.
Serenity Terasaur had just made it to the cul de sac that their house sat at the farthest point of, walking along the raised edging of the sidewalk as the cop cars and ambulance took off. Damn. They had been at the church. Ser’s face crumpled up as she became a bit worried over Gerald, had the poor, sweet man had a heart attack? She hoped not. The feline made her way to the front door of the Pride House as the scent of blood drifted on the night’s breeze to her, her whole body freezing in place, hand raised to the door latch. Rhage. Ser’s crystallized blue gaze widened in fear as she looked down into Jared’s face as he flung open the door, tugging her onto his lap and taking the drop from the house to the grass below like a pro. “We are going to the hospital, now…Aydryan told me that Hikaru found Rhage at the church.” Ser couldn’t speak, she did nothing but sit doll-like on his lap as he wheeled them towards town. Her chocolate and heavy cream mixture lay dejectedly on the ground by the door of the Pride House, seeping into the dry dirt. It took quite a bit for them to reach the hospital, the new and improved one, since Jared was still exhausted from the evening before and Ser was really nothing more than dead weight at the moment…she was in shock that they had found her sister...and that it was bad enough for her to have been in an ambulance. Not to mention the thought briefly entered her mind that Aydryan had left without telling Ser that he was going to speak with Jared…about Rhage being found. The asshole hadn’t told her…he had left her in the bar unaware. That didn’t go over too well with the lioness. Once inside Ser finally animated somewhat, snapping at the night duty nurse to take her to her sister’s room, who then protested that she couldn’t have visitors just yet. Ser became rather rude and bitchy, even with Jared touching her and trying to calm her down. Nothing worked. Eventually she wore the nurse down and she grudgingly gave the room number and told them how to get there. Ser didn’t even thank the woman but headed to the elevator, just barely waiting on her mate, bouncing on the balls of her feet until he was in and she had closed the door, punching in the floor button. Jared would have to grab Ser every time the bell chimed and the doors opened, holding her inside of the elevator and whispering that it wasn’t their floor. She was out of her mind with fear and worry. Finally when they reached the floor Ser would race out, glancing wildly at the door numbers until she found her twin’s. She’d open the door slowly, stepping in to see her twin…her eyes widening with shock over how she looked. She promptly fainted, crumpling to the ground, back sliding down the wall until she was slumped over some. It was better than shifting. Jared had finally caught up, frowning at Ser and deciding ultimately to leave her be…he didn’t want her to shift when there was nothing he could do about it.
