Hikaru returned from the stockroom with a small sigh and looked around, smiling at Deo and nodding to Alehandro. The place was pretty much empty now, save for a few of the staff and Deo. Looking up at the Lazer lights, "Alehandro... you can cut the lights... I'm going to start cleaning up." Al nodded and flipped the switch under the bar, shutting off the lights, and turned the music down a few notches.
Deoridhe makes a slightly disappointed noise around her straw, very quiet. She turns to stare at the lights until they go off, bouncing a little. She looks entirely too awake; someone slept in today.
Hikaru moved over to the bars on one side and tore down the tape, wading it into a ball and tossing it to Alehandro who caught it and put it in the trash laughing. He looked out at the dance floor for a moment before reaching up and unclipping his tie, and unbuttoning his shirt, tugging it out of the pants and slipping it off. Tossing the tie and shirt onto the bench before unbuckling his belt and letting that join the rest. "You know what Alehandro... crank it.. I need to blow off steam." He smiled at Deo and headed for the dance floor.
Deoridhe giggles and - utterly unable to resist volume, sets her drink down by the bottom of the bars - who's left to roofie it? - and bounces onto the dance floor as well. Freed of glassticular impediment, she does a lit of whirling and spinning and wriggly hands.
Hikaru closed his eyes for a moment, simply letting the music thrum along his body, his movements began slow at first, then gradually he hit the tempo and rhythm of the song. In actuality he loved dancing, but right like this was his favorite time. The time when he could move freely, without a crowd of bodies in around him. After a while his eyes slitted, watching Deo dancing nearby.
Deoridhe seems to be enjoying herself thoroughly, taking advantage of the nearly empty dance floor to do some serious travelling. She's started giggling, a huge smile stretched across her face and her eyes nearly closed as she enjoys not having to - for once - make sure she didn't bump into people who were barely moving.
Hikaru started to feel the tension and sadness easing from him and he imagined it doing the same thing he did with moments of pain. It fell through him and sunk into the floor below his moving feet. Dropping down to the floor, he twirled and rolled, then with a burst of power from his hand that raised a wind that swirled against even Deo's skirts, lifted himself back upright and kept going. It was his way of practicing in a way.
Deoridhe is mid-whirl when the wind comes up and she laughs, delighted, hands catching at the edges of her skirt to swirl them further. She tosses her head back, already pretty relaxed and so the dancing is just riling her up further as she loses herself in the pure pleasure of mindless music and movement.
Hikaru smiled wider hearing her laughter, simple and carefree. He was enjoying watching her while they danced but the sight of her exposed throat when she tipped her head back teased at the hunger he had been staving off for the past few days. Twirling away from her across the dance floor then thinking about it, he danced his way back, closer to her, watching her, studying her, wondering. All the while he never lost a step.
Deoridhe is trying out some of her favorite belly dancing moves - in rhythm to the music but utterly out of style with it. She opens her eyes slightly, catching sight of Hikaru closer and grins at him cheerfully. "I've never had a dance floor almost to myself," she calls out, giggling again and spinning - tossing her head in the air so her hair kind of flips and whirls like her hands already are.
Hikaru caught that Alehandro had let a guy buy a bottle and walk out of the bar, his eyes narrowing on the sight as he recognized the guy as the one that had wanted a job earlier. Passing along the information to Ayd, that they would have to have a talk with Al later on it, and really watch things closer for a while. "Do you know what the space is best used for?" He reached out and snagged at one of her hands, trying to pull her closer though if she would not seem to want to, he would let go.
Deoridhe giggles as she gets snagged, spinning under his hand in a single, practiced motion. Someone was taught ballroom dancing. "Best used for?" she asks, sounding curious and being a little less flamboyant with her hands so she won't hit him.
smiled wider, still being careful not to show too much fang as she spun, then caught her side to stop her spinning, beginning to guide her into a dance. "This." He had recognized the ballroom style and went with it, occasionally turning her out from him, letting her fingers almost slip through his before catching them and pulling her back to him again.
Deoridhe laughs, following his lead easily, her eyes sparkling. Sometimes, a little teasingly, she'll pause just a little before getting caught again, seeming to enjoy the momentary suspense. "She's doing her best to remember to not look into his eyes, but it's obviously a challenge for her; her gaze keeps flickering here and there as she wants to do the usual, normal, human thing and smiling into someones eyes, then remembers that's not the brightest idea.
Hikaru sighed noticing that she refused, or tried to refuse looking him his eyes. He was disappointed, but not for the reason another might be. Spinning her out again then changing her direction so when she came back to him, her back was to him, easily flowing them into a rumba. he leaned down next to her ear so she could hear him easier. "I'll let you in on a secret of mine Deo... My eyes are safe." At the tail end of that statement he twirled her again. What he of course didn't tell her, was that he could, and already had, been in her mind, without meeting her eyes.
Deoridhe 's eyes flicker a little, then she risks a glance into his eyes. "Izzy told me to be really careful with the whole... looking in the eyes thing," she admits. "So did Jehan, so.... but..." A head tilt to the side as she asks, curiously, "Why are your eyes safe?" She doesn't sound suspicious, more alive with curiosity as she follows his lead into the new dance.
Hikaru 's smile faltered slightly but the steps never failed. "I never learned, not that way at least. I simply don't know how. Maybe when I'm older... maybe." He laughed softly at that and spun her out again, not wanting her to miss any of her joyous twirling.
Deoridhe giggles and, using momentum, spins several times before whirling in again. She can't help asking quesitons, though, breathless as she is from spins made more glorious by being tethered by a hand. "It's not, like... instinctive?" she asks, risking another curious look. "I thought vampires would just ....know things, like breathing for humans." She catches the hesitation in his lips, but reigns back her curiosity on that end.... at least for now.
Hikaru shakes his head "Usually.. if things are done right... we have a teacher, preferably our maker that guides us along, helps us learn what we need to know." A hand rose to lightly trace along the side of her neck over her pulse before moving back down to move and guide her hips again. "Like where to bite... how long to feed, and when to stop. Things I only recently learned." Recent in vampire terms varied of course.
Deoridhe leans into the touch, just a little and probably not even noticing it. "I'm sorry," she says, honestly. "It must have been hard, you know... not having anyone to guide you." Her brows draw in a little, sympathetically.
Hikaru travels with her around the dance floor, letting her spin and twirl as she wished. "I was guided toward other things, trained differently." That she had leaned into his light touch intrigued him however his tone said he didn't want to go too far into his past.
Deoridhe smiles brightly at him, taking opportunities to spin whenever she can, though she's getting a bit dizzier and so leaning more on his hand to keep herself upright. "Kind of like a personal trade school?" she asks, keeping the discussion impersonal. Well, as impersonal as giggled questions can be. "Though, it would be kind of funny to have a Vampire FInishing school! Classes in deportment and desanguination!"
Hikaru laughed, pulling her back against him "And Levitation 101.. and How to turn into bats... wait.. we don't do that." His arm slid around her waist , helping to keep her upright and against him as he slowed the dance down. With her back to him she couldn't see where his eyes had traveled in an instant. The pulsing vein in her neck drawing his gaze like a moth to a flame. Somehow in all of that he had been careful of her delicate wings, managing to spread them out across his back. "Why do you always wear wings Deo?"
Deoridhe is all unknowing, tilting her head again to the side as she blushes a little. "It's.... silly, really," she explains before answering him. "Really, kind of childish... but I always wished I could fly, you know? I'd read the stories about faeries and ...I always kind of wished.... I had wings. So... I made them." She adds, quickly, "I know I have to give them up when I finally grow up, but I figured I get a pass while I'm in college, you know?" Her cheeks are crimson as she admits her fancy.
Hikaru swallowed when she bared more of her neck to him. Everything about her actions showed that she was willing but... he had been in her mind. She was naive too. "Deo... do you realize how tempting you are?" He knew he could give her that wish. At least for a little while. He just wasn't sure she would be alright if he fed on her while he gave it to her.
Deoridhe blinks a couple of times, startled by the shift in conversation, and asks with honest confusion, "Tempting?" She tries to turn her head to look at him, confused.
Hikaru tore his gaze from her neck to meet her eyes realizing she really didn't know, wasn't doing it on purpose. "I should go..." He whispered, eyes closing, but he didn't stop leading her in the dance, nor did his arm loosen from her, in fact, it tightened slightly. He didn't want to stop dancing.
Deoridhe blushes crimson, then says, sounding rather like a barefoot person picking her way across glass, "I thought you were, um.... gay?" Her brows quirk up at the end of her sentence rather than her voice, and she somehow manages to blush more. "I mean, um... uh... I don't mean to, I mean... I'm sorry?" She doesn't stop dancing either, though, her body continuing on autopilot even while the cockpit ground to a confused halt. "I don't mean to be, um... anything," she adds, too embarrassed to look at him.
Hikaru came to a screeching, grinding, burn the brakes down to the metal, halt. The arm around her loosened and she slid down, the foot and a half to the floor, her heels clicking resolutely. Hikaru did his best but couldn't help but let his jaw hang, his fangs very visible though it wasn't because he was going to bite her, his astonishment was paramount. his mouth closed, opened, closed again before he could speak. "I... am... I mean..." He started chuckling, and then laughing. He couldn't help it. Eventually, he reached up and wiped at the pink tears that trailed down his cheeks and lifted her hand up as if to kiss it, turning it over at the last second and placing a delicate kiss on the inside of her gloved wrist, his eyes rolled up to watch hers while he did.
Deoridhe looks absolutely baffled and confused, peering up at him as he laughed and looking almost ...anxious. Uncertain, unsure of her footing, she watches him kiss the inside of her wrist with no decrease in her confusion - the music pounding in her ears along with her heartbeat. She blinks once. Twice. Then the sound of her own pulse makes her think along other lines, and she says, "Oh, do you mean...." Her jaw sort of unhinges a little and she says, "Um....." and fidgets, looking for the world like a child who just figured out she'd broken the rules.
Hikaru was still chuckling softly as he watched the realization dawning on her, placing his other hand lightly over her wrist where he had kissed it, realizing he could easily wrap his fingers around the dainty limb. "The kiss is a sign of respect Deo. I respect you naivety, your innocence. You are truly something pure, and that is a rarity in this world. Perhaps another night, when you are ready I can take you flying like you imagine." He let go of her hand and took a step back from her.
Deoridhe is actually incapable of blushing more, so instead she digs a toe into the tile of the dance floor. "I didn't really think about that," she admits. "I mean, I'd thought about it and read about it, but I didn't think, um... me, like... um..." she was about to make some flippant comment about the lack of people showing interest in her until they found out about her family, but closed her mouth instead. Something like a wry smile curves her lips upward. "I'm probably too lucky to be believed, huh?" She risks a somewhat amused glance up into his eyes, her other hand rubbing the kissed wrist slowly; thoughtfully.
Hikaru tilted his head, his smile seemingly stuck in place. "What wouldn't they believe Deo?"
Deoridhe admits, "Jehan told me last night that if I'd run into his Sire I'd've been in trouble, but I thought he was talking about my forgetting not to look in peoples' eyes. Not, um.... snacking."
Hikaru 's smile faded a little around the edges. "Both perhaps. Some of us are not.. kind. But we don't want that kind here, we won't allow it. I want you to promise something to me Deo. If a vampire is harassing you, you come straight to either Aydryan or myself." He nodded over to Jeanette who was helping Alehandro clean up the bar for the night. "Any of the workers here can get a hold of us if need be." He thought of something, his smile fading completely. "Is Remiel...?"
Deoridhe tilts her head a little - yup, it's a thinking pose - then waggles her head form side to side. "Not really. He sort of ...said something nasty about how he should roll me to teach me a lesson, but then he left and Jehan took me home." She admits, sounding embarrassed, "I was a little drunk. I probably should have just gotten a cab right off the bat, but I decided to walk a while to sober up a little." She looks up at him, saying very seriously, "I promise, though. I mean, if I can and, like, have already run away, or whatever." Her hand rises to her neck, something else occuring as she says, "Remiel also said... he said that crosses won't always help, and grabbed my necklace once. Is that true, that crosses don't ...always help?"
Hikaru nodded and reached for her necklace slowly, gently brushing the floofy flower aside so he could see it, the traced his finger over it lightly. "Thor's hammer... you are not christian?" He reached to his own neck and tugged on the chain, pulling out his own ruby studded cross. "Speaking as the Reverend Father of the Church? No.. they only work if you feel the vampire is doing something threatening... or they are and you don't know it. But... it has to be a symbol of YOUR faith Deo.. not someone else's."
Deoridhe looks confused. "The books and Izzy just said a cross... but it felt weird wearing one of the Christian god's symbols without mine, so even though I don't usually I added a hammer." Then she realizes she didn't answer the question so she says, "Yeah, I'm Asatru. Kind of recdently converted, don't tell my parents. They aren't devout, but I already freak them out enough." She pats the side of her dress, adding, "I always carry my runes, too. I just feel, I don't know it's probably silly, but I always carried my runes no matter what. I just feel better about ..." a vague hand wave, "everything."
Hikaru nodded slowly "You can remove the cross. The Church is nondenominational by the way... In case you want somewhere quiet and inside." He felt the dawn coming and turned his head Eastward for a moment, as if he could see the sun rising through the wall. "I need to go Deo." He stepped around her and began gathering his things from the bench. Straightening he looked at her and blinked. "A holy item is only as powerful as the faith of the person holding it. Remember that. Good .. day."
Deoridhe nods a little, looking confused but accepting. "Sweet dreams," she offers, "and, um.... thank you." She watches after him a long moment before gathering herself and going outside to catch a cab.
Deoridhe makes a slightly disappointed noise around her straw, very quiet. She turns to stare at the lights until they go off, bouncing a little. She looks entirely too awake; someone slept in today.
