Nikki Robbins slowly floated her way through the catacombs. It had taken her a bit to get off the ground but she had let her practicing stop during the rough time in her life. But now, she had it back and her petite feet hovered over the ground as she moved through the catacombs. She took a different path tonight. Nikki moved along and headed for the church. She did not feel like dealing with the loud and thick crowd at Fang Bangers. Eventually, she would tell Aydryan and Hikaru she was all right to start again. She moved through the rooms below the church and headed up the steps not even making a sound. Nikki listened up into the church to see if there was anyone above her in the church. She did not want to pop out of this place if someone was above her that should not know.
Dinah walks quietly to the front pew, seeing Hikaru there at the front busy with something. She doesn't call out to him, but takes a seat on the wooden pew, it creaking slightly under her weight. She takes a minute to study the building. It certainly didn't look like the center of a vampire worshipping cult or anything. She didn't see any blood or bodies or weird shit lying around. Just the familiar musty smell of a church and normal equipment. If anything it was sparsely furnished. She did notice a confessional in the corner.
Hikaru stacked the last of the books he was trying to organize and looked over his shoulder at Dinah. Offering her a small smile and nod, "Hello Dinah. Welcome." He had heard one of the doors below shifting under his feet a few moments earlier so he made sure his voice was still gentle, but carried.
Nikki Robbins heard Hikaru talking to some woman named Dinah. Ok, time to head back. She would at least come back here to speak with Hikaru since it had been a while. Nikki quietly floated back down the stairs to make her way to another exit from the catacombs.
Dinah nodded mutely in response to Hikaru. He made her nervous and a little scared, but this place seemed ordinary so she hoped he would just let her be. She spotted a bible not too far away from her on the seat and grabbed it, opening it to a verse that often comforted her in times of stress or unhappiness. She stared at the words though, not really reading them as she thought over her feelings of the last few days. She fretted about her reaction to Q and the hooker. She clasped her hands together and began to murmur a prayer hoping to dispel it all from her mind.
Hikaru blew the dust off the top of the last book and set it down, glancing to Dinah and her choice of the Bible with a small smile before he moved to his desk and sat, beginning to write one of many letters. The silence didn't bother him and the only sounds in the church was the faint groaning of wood as the building shifted slightly and the scratching of his pen across the paper.
Dinah set the bible aside, and fervently prayed for some kind of deliverance from these influences in her life. She really didn't know what else to do. She lived in this town alone and had no friends. She began to wonder if her taking the job here was worth it. She wasn't getting peace in her life. Her nails bit into her tensed hands so hard they were drawing blood. She didn't notice until a couple of drops fell to the floor below, breaking her trance like prayer.
Hikaru paused in his writing, his head lifting up to look at her a moment, smelling the blood. Slowly he stood, the chair scraping across the wood floor softly and he rounded the desk, reaching over to pull out a few tissues from the box in one drawer before moving over to stand in front of her, offering them to her. "You don't have to draw blood for God to hear you."
Dinah managed to relax her hands, but stiffened as the vampire approached her with the tissues. She took them from him, looking at the ground. "It wasn't intentional....I just wasn't paying attention." she said. She figured it bothered the vampire for her to be bleeding and part of her wondered if that made him hungry or murderous, like Dave's attacker. "You make me uncomfortable." she admitted in a flat tone.
Hikaru tried to smile, but it faltered and he nodded, moving back to the desk to grab one more then returning and kneeling at her feet to wipe up the few drops on the wood before the soaked in too much. "I was attempting a joke..." He glanced up at her and nodded again standing. "I suspected I did." He bunched up the tissue and moved back to the desk, tossing it in the trash before closing his appointment calendar.
Dinah stood up, suddenly frustrated, and called out to him. "What can you preach about, if you're dead? Surely it can't be how to live a good life and be kind to others...You're dead and you drink human blood.."she blurted. She didn't think on the consequence of saying this, just said exactly what came to mind. Perhaps she was upset that she had found no comfort in this place.
Hikaru stilled for a moment at the harshness in her words before he slowly turned and looked at her his chin tipping up. "I was going to be a priest before I was taken and turned against my will. I had no choice in the matter. My cross has flared with God's power in the face of evil and other vampires trying to do me and mine harm. God hasn't forsaken me, so why should I give up on him?" He was confused, was she questioning his faith, or how he can actually do it... two separate matters. One much more boring than the latter. "As for me drinking human blood? I only take from those willing to give, try to cause as little pain as possible, and only take enough to keep me going without taking too much from the donor." His eyes narrowed slightly. "Can you say that about the last burger you ate?"
Dinah face reddened at his reply to her. She didn't know whether to feel ashamed or angry, but she still didn't understand him. She figured it wasn't for her to understand a vampire. That was part of her whole problem, of late. She didn't look at him, but at the floor near his feet. She didn't feel she could answer, so she merely turned to leave, feeling afraid now.
Hikaru watched her face flush and turn for the door and sighed. "You are welcome to stay as long as you like. This place is for everyone. Since I make you uncomfortable... I will go so you may have your silence in peace if you like."
Dinah: "No, I won't come back here," she said, her voice emotional. She hurried out the door.
