(I was not here for the whole thing, if someone else has it could you please add it as a reply and I will edit it above this? Thank you!)
Dinah shakes her head listening to Jehan's words, not wanting to take them for what they were. If these vampires were like the one in L.A. she'd be long dead already. The part of her that witnessed the murder didn't want to accept their differences. She resisted this new perception because it wouldn't provide her the solace she came to the small town to find. "What do you expect me to think?" she asked, giving up.
Aydryan stood up slowly, rising from the divan with liquid grace, "Madam....since my presence offends the so very much and I do not wish to ask you to leave....I shall leave. You will believe what you will allow yourself to believe." The deep turquoise of his one eye was sad, but the rest of him was as still as stone. He looked to Jehan and then Deo, "Please...have a good evening."
Jehan snorts softly then sighs," I for one... do not expect anything of you . You..have a life.. it is yours to live..or not . It is up to you to find your own place and what it is for you to desire to do with what you are given," he slowly looked up at Aydryan stood and he was sad a moment as he watched him and turned a somewhat dark look towards Dinah that he concealed by continuing his turn towards Deo," You seem to have studied quite a lot . Its good to know so many things.”
Deoridhe 's eyes follow Aydryan, and she nods to him gently, frowning a little. She says, gently, "If we told you what to think, then what good would that be for you?" Her eyes, startled, go to Jehan. "I just know a little about a bunch of things..." she says, sounding embarrassed.
Hikaru pushed open the doors of the office and stepped out, violet eyes rising to the sight of his lover reaching the top of the steps. "Ami?" That one word held everything he held for Aydryan, along with worry and concern.
Aydryan looked up as he heard that one word and he just shook his head. "I try so hard....but it is as if I speak to the deaf. Always....always they take on these beliefs and ideals of such generalities." He shook his head slowly, "For all that they have life....they fear so much....and judge so ruthlessly."
Dinah nose began to run, and she started in surprise when the vampire just left. He seemed offended. She never thought that a vampire would be offended or bothered by anything. She always thought they just did what they wanted. She clenched her fists, confused, angry and ashamed all at the same time. What she did know was that she was deeply unhappy, and she half wondered if it wouldn't have been better if that vampire in her hometown had killed her too. She couldn't find anything meaningful to say.
Hikaru sighed reaching out to Ayd with one arm, offering him his hand. There was only one as of late that had hurt Hikaru several times, every time they had met, and he asked his lover silently if it was the same one. "They fear what they do not know, or they are curious and want to know more than they should. Either way can be a path to trouble."
Aydryan took Hikaru's hand and stepped into the circle of his arms, laying his forehead upon Hikaru's shoulder. "Yes, Ami....it was. I feel that next time I will simply hand them a knife.....and let them stab me with it. Let them take their suffering out on me."
Jehan rolled over to rest elbows on the seat and his chin on his hands as he smiled over to Deo." WEll sometimes that is better than knowing a lot about a little. It would mean you might know the answer to a riddle or something that might be of use when another doesn't . That and it makes you wicked good at the trivia games I suppose. Bink doesn't like to play those with me. My memories are too old and his are too new.
Deoridhe says to Dinah, sounding apologetic, "I left my handkerchief at home, but... do you need a handkerchief?" Jehan keeps distracting her, though; her face shifts from concern to amusement and back again with remarkable speed and accuracy. "Oh, most of what I know is too useless for trivia," she says. "I don't remember details well, really, just ...general things... and ideas, and stories." She glances back at Dinah, brow furrowing a little.
Hikaru wrapped his arms and more around Aydryan while he frowned. "Honestly...? I would be surprised if she actually did anything with it." He turned his head and pressed his lips against Ayd's temple.
Dinah: "No..I..I'm fine," she answers Deo, snuffling. "I don't understand what he seemed to be upset at." she admitted.
Aydryan coiled his arms around Hikaru, tightening the embrace, "They...do they not realize that we were alive once too? Or do they believe we just rose from the ground, from ashes?" He found it odd that he felt that he just might weep. "What more can we do, Ami? Split our own chests open to show that it's just as red and meaty inside as their own?"
Jehan continued to pay little attention to Dinah at the moment though glance did flick to her jsut once then back to Deo," you know how Bink adores stories. But then that is how he is relearning how to live. I like telling his stories. I do all the voices. " he laughed softly
Deoridhe blinks at Dinah, utterly floored, then says, "You just insulted him. I mean, how would you feel if someone questioned your ability to worship your god, and said you were a monster?" She's reaching out, not really thinking about it, toward Jehan, touching the edge of his shirt; seeking reassurance. "He said your stories were wonderful," she says, secreting away the mention of Bink learning to live; that was for later questioning. "I used to tell stories when I was a teenagers - made up fairy-tales to the kids I babysat and stuff." She's dividing her attention, Dinah's visible suffering holding her attention as much as Jehan's laughter.
Hikaru felt that sadness within Aydryan and something else in his stirred, something he usually kept very well hidden and contained. But Aydryan's words had his head tipping back to look at him, an idea forming. "Maybe not so drastic.. no. Hopefully not. But..." He imparted his idea to his lover while his hold on him tightened further. It truly was a good thing at this point that neither of them needed to breathe.
Nathyn knew even with his eyes closed the bartenders and a couple of the security folk had their eyes on him. It wasn't like he had caused a fight within the establishment yet. He merely left the option for such... wide open with his attitude. What was so wrong with exciting the humans blood up once and awhile? He threw his body about to the heavy wailing of guitars and back beat pulsing through the club. Dancing involved the full body and he was going to make sure every muscle of his got used to its fullest. Even if his goal was hiding in the crowd, he held nothing back in his dance movements.
Jehan slowly looked to Dinah and looked her up and down. He gave it a slow growing predatory tint to his study ,"How sharp words can be. would they be used the same upon one that you could tell had a heartbeat? If one never showed you fang or pallor would you cut as deep?" he slowly sat up and smiled at Dinah," Do you smell of blood? Do you carry that scent upon your hands as well as your soul? Surely you do as you reach in to crush each quiet heart you find with your condemnations and the weight of your own self pity. As if you were the only one to ever have a loved one die before you . "he flipped his hand at her in a dismissive gesture" Maybe you should go back and pray to your so very unforgiving god and see what he tells you.”
Aydryan smiled and shook his head slowly as he whispered, "I do not think she would be effected. She's blinded by her own loss and her fear. She doesn't want to see the truth." He leaned back slightly and settled his hand flat upon Hikaru's chest above his heart. "I need to let myself be a little colder, Ami......not let my humanity show quite so blatantly."
Dinah head swirled with questions. Doubting ones. She'd actually seen the effects of crosses and such on vampires. It was what had saved her own life on that fateful night. The only thing. If God was so accepting of the undead then why that horrible bright burning and screaming that was imprinted on her mind. She'd heard holy water had a similar effect...No crosses allowed in this bar. The vampires were telling a good story, but something still didn't add up. Maybe they ran the church to atone for their own guilt. If they were atoning even that was something...not monstrous. "That wasn't my purpose in being here..to insult. But I don't have any better understanding than I did." She answered Deo. Dinah stops as Jehan addresses her, shocked. Her face crumbled. "I didn't love him," was all she said, turning to leave.
Deoridhe says, softly, "One thing I've learned - the only way to understand something is to have empathy for it; to let it into you." Her head drops a little to the side and her hands find her hair again, stroking the length of her ponytail.
Hikaru nodded slowly and smiled at the tender touch. "Maybe we both need to be... harder and colder. Just.." his eyes narrowed slightly, meeting that turquoise gaze. "Not towards each other." His eyes slid to the side for an instant to the door that led to the roof, another idea forming as he slowly took a step back and offered Aydryan his arm with a mischievous smile. "Would you care to walk with me?"
Nathyn threw his body into the dance floor. He slid across it languidly, he rolled about a moment, before rolling the whole of his body like it were a piece of silk up near another dancer. They blinked, caught off guard by his movements, yet he never gave them a second glance. Back on his feet he was back to his own full bodied, muscles at his beck and call dancing of release.
Aydryan took that offered arm, "It would be my pleasure, Sir." He smiled quietly as they both moved toward the door, up the stairs and out into the night air.
Hikaru led Aydryan to the ladder and let him go first, up on top of the police station, holding the ladder for him while openly, at least through their bond, watching Aydryan's rear end.
Aydryan smiles as he rises up the ladder rungs, "You....are a pervert." But he swayed his rear end any way. Once at the top he walked over the stone gargoyle that overlooked Wood Bourne.
Hikaru chuckled in response to the wiggle and comment. "I am not. It's a very nice backside you have. You don't see it the same way I do and don't start about those three way mirrors either. They reverse your cheeks."He followed on up after, standing beside Ayd for a moment before slipping in behind him and wrapping his arm over his shoulder, pulling him back against him still smiling.
Aydryan leaned back into Hikaru and let his gaze drift out over the shadowed city, the mountains beyond, the sparkle of the lake. "It's beautiful here, Ami. No matter what, it is beautiful here."
Hikaru followed his gaze over and nodded "Yes it is. So few get to see things from our view." What a wonderful view it was at that too. His free arm lifted and pointed to the south west, "We can even see the church from here." But he admitted that the mountains and lake was far more appealing to look at, save one thing.
Aydryan smiled at the thought not spoken by his lover, "You are such the flatterer, Ami. Even with my one eye you still deem me beautiful." He leaned his head back against Hikaru's shoulder, turning it to kiss his jaw lightly.
Hikaru smiled tiling his head to give Ayd better access to his jaw or neck. "And even with my scars you see me as flawless." Something no one was in actuality, but he believed that it was the flaws that made the person who they were.
Aydryan smiled and let his gaze shift up to the stars above, "Then we are both truly blinded, My Love." He closed that one eye and just let himself relax and be held. "Here is my comfort....with you."
Hikaru wrapped his other arm around Ayd's waist, his own eyes closing but the smile never left his face. His head tipping down the scant inch or two to his shoulder. "Mine too.. with you." He sighed, letting go of the anger he held and letting it fall back down deep inside him.
Dinah shakes her head listening to Jehan's words, not wanting to take them for what they were. If these vampires were like the one in L.A. she'd be long dead already.
