A letter home, on small yellow legal pad, sent in a standard envelope with standard postage.
Dear Mom and Pop,
Hello from Wood Bourne, New York! I hope this finds you all well and good. Things here are well, so far. I've started at the department already and have pulled three shifts. Things here sure are different than back home, yet so far everyone's been fairly nice.
Pop - was thinking about you the other day. Have you been up in the stand yet this season? If you do it this year, I'd sure love some of your and Mom's venison jerky. A care package would be great!
I'm hoping to start hunting for an apartment or something soon. This living out of a hotel is getting pretty annoying. Which reminds me I need to do some laundry soon. Oh yeah, the Chief of Police here remembers you Pop, from a conference in St Louis you both were at like twelve years ago. He passed on his best.
Say hi to everyone for me. I'm gonna close this up and toss it in the mail. I'll call this weekend. Love to you both!

in a plain doe-brown leather journal....
Just sent a lame letter home. "Hi mom and dad, hope all is well, miss you..." Blah. What I woulda loved to have told them was that Pop's wrong. It's not all bad. I didn't step off the bus into chaos, I haven't been mauled or mugged. I think a lot of my aprehension in coming here was based on Pop's ramblings. I need to quit talking stock in it I guess....
So I've met a few people. Two male vampires who are quite open and willing to answer my "stupid human" questions. The bartender at Sanctuary is decent - no prying into things or trying to be overbearing. Last night I saw the cutest lady. I couldn't being to guess how old she was. I mean she was an adult, but looked so young 'cause she was dressed like a doll...kinda. I seen those kinda outfits in magazines, but hell, we don't wear that kinda stuff back home. Looked cute though. Oh! One of the vamps, the second one I met, told me I could be a fashion model! Imagine that....I think everyone back home would laugh their asses off if they heard that. It did make me feel good though. For once someone saw my size and saw beauty - not just strength or purpose.
Oh well - some things just are.
Overall I'm not entirely sure what to think of Wood Bourne. The few people I've met have been cool. The crew at the station are all alright. Already found the first guy I'm gonna have to beat off with a stick. I think my 'do not disturb' sign broke while I was on shift last. I just don't do the date-your-coworkers thing. T-R-O-U-B-L-E.
Anywho - I need to find a place soon. Sick of the motel. Sick of my own company. To be quite honest, I feel like a pig outta the trough....
Food time. Then to the laundromat. Yey.

new journal entry
Finally meeting more people. This time no vampires, that I could tell. Sanctuary is a decent bar and I found out some good people hang out there. I think they work and sleep on the premise too? I dunno. Got off shift last night and had some drinks, met a handful of new people... It was great!
Apartment hunting. Blargh! I've put it off long enough, time to go take care of that.... maybe I'll run into someone for lunch. Who knows.
