The plectron sounded in the station, reports of a disturbance outside of an apartment building, at least one person down. Two units worth of officers and the two-man ambulance crew spilled out onto the street. "Damn the temp dropped even more since the last call out." Elenore's response was a grunt in the afirmative as she hopped behind the wheel of the ambulance. Sirens screaming, the three vehicles take off towards the call, additional reports rolling in escalating the incident to a possible fight with armed subjects....
Elenore Taurus pulls the ambulance to a stop nearly half a block away from the call. Readying their equipment, the ambulance crew keeps their eyes down the street on the officers converging upon the fight. The pair step out of the rig into the sound of raised voices. A distinct "Police! Everyone on the ground NOW!" is interrupted by a shot ringing out through the cold late fall air. Elenore and her partner drop to the ground, hands covering their heads as they wait for PD to secure the scene and call for their assistance. "Shit...you alright Phil?" Adrenaline pumpin through her veins, Elenore looks under the ambulance to her partner who is equally pumped, alertness on overdrive.
Additional police units converge on the scene of the shooting. A second ambulance crew readies - staging at the station. The street following the shot is quiet except for the shouted commands of the officers and a mournful whimpering. The armed suspect is taken down, another statistic in the effectivness of the taser. Elenore's radio gives the slight buzz of open air. "335 to EMS, scene secure, possible 2 victims." Elenore and Phil push to their feet and grab their gear before jogging into the fray.
Elenore Taurus approaches the original victim, finding a 20-something male with a stab wound to the lower abdomin. Phil and the firemen onscene spilt up to assist and check over the second victim, who is in police custody. The medics work with quiet efficiency, bandages and scissors tools of thier trade. Elenore's eyes roam the scene as she works, a glint of metal catching her attention. Hand applying pressure to the man's wound, she looks for the nearest cop. "Officer Parker!" She jerks her head left when she has his attention. "Weapon, near the doorway." With a small shake of her head, she resumes treating her patient, her voice low as she soothes him into relaxing enough. "Now ya need to hold still. What's your name? Gary? Alright Gary, we're gonna patch you up and get ya to the hospital, so take it easy for me."
Elenore Taurus jogs back towards the waiting ambulance, pulling off her bloody gloves and dropping them into the red sack in the back of the rig. She climbs behind the wheel and pulls the vehicle forward, then gets out to open the doors. Taking quiet command of her patient once more, she assists the firefighters as they load the gurney into the back of the rig. Straps and wheels are secured as Elenore gloves up and preps the IV. A quick insertion of a needle, a flip of the dial, and vital electrolites sustain the wounded male. An officer prepares to climb in for the ride. Phil has released their second patient to the police and he and Elenore switch places. With Phil and the officer in back, Elenore goes back behind the wheel and prepares for their departure to the hospital.
The door to the ambulance is closed, a double rap given on the door as the firefighters back up. Truck in gear, Elenore drives to the hospital, sirens once again filling the early morning. Elenore gets on the radio as they travel. "EMS 1 incoming to Wood Bourne General. We're enroute with a twenty-three year old male, stab wound to the lower left quadrant. Vitals are steady but he's lost a lot of blood. He's on ringers and 2.5 liters O2. Our ETA is 2 minutes." After receiving her reply, Elenore rotates her shoulders and drives to the hospital.
Elenore Taurus pulls the rig into the Emergency entrance and puts it in park. She hops out and rounds to the back, opening the doors and assisting the medical staff with unloading the patient. Medical information is relayed as Elenore arms herself with a clipboard, starting the report that will be the official EMS record of this call. "He's all yours. PD already got his info, here's his wallet and I think his hat." Phil hands over a bag with the items and the duo follow the gurney inside.
Elenore Taurus finishes filling out what paperwork has to be completed at this time. Once everything is set, she waves to the hospital staff with promises to have her parents ship out some venison jerky for one of the nurses and an offer to dinner - politely declined, than you - from one of the radiology staff. Blowing out a breath, Elenore walks out to the awaiting ambulance with Phil. "Well shit...that was a fun one." She gives a grin and climbs into the driver's seat.
Officers remain on the scene of the shooting to interview witnessess and collect evidence. Fire and EMS, once the patients have been treated and transported, return to the station to clean up and fill out reports. Once finished, EMS 1 takes their lunch break...
